Phoenix Community College ACE Program
The mission of the Phoenix College ACE program is to provide the opporunity to earn college credits and experience the college experience at an earlier age.Students enter the program during the summer after their Sophomore year in highschool. The students are individually chosen and evaluated based on a combination of factors. The most influential being at risk factors i.e: low income families, first generation college students, single parent house holds, and underrepresented racial groups. Our ultimimate goal is for the students to move on to the next level academically. The students take classes on Saturdays during the school year and Monday-Thursday during the summer. By the time the students complete the program they will have earned 24 college credits as well as participated in college ready workshops. Workshops are conducted in the areas of financial aid, scholarships, problem solving among a few. Finally one of the biggest components of the program is the mentoring aspect we provide with the students. All students have an advisor that coaches them throught he college process with the end goal being them graduating and attended a higher level of education, whether it be at the community college lever or university.
