A standard background check will before performed prior to an official start date. Intern background checks are done at the expense of the Foundation and typically take 24-48 hours to complete.

We work with interns to determine a mutually beneficial weekly schedule. NOTE: This position requires some Saturday event attendance.

REQUIRED/DESIRED SKILLS

• Requires excellent project management, customer service, communication, writing, presentation, and event planning skills.
• Ability to work quickly and independently.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Outlook (including e-mail).
• Minimum of 15 hour work week preferred.

ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP

Duties

The Events/Marketing Intern will assist the Events & Marketing team in the planning, execution, and wrap-up of several Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona events while further developing skills in public relations, brand management, and written and oral communications.

• Responsible for leading a team of dedicated events volunteers while reporting to the Marketing and Events Director.
• Assist in the editing of print publications including ads, flyers and brochures to comply with national Make-A-Wish Foundation standards.
• Assist with public speaking and wish ambassador engagements when needed.
• Assist with Development Department functions critical to fundraising and donor relations.
• Maintain communication with all departments to identify needs and opportunities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Population served

Children who have reached the age of 2½ and are under the age of 18 at the time of referral who have not received a wish from another Make-A-Wish® chapter or another wish-granting organization may be eligible for a wish.

Community need/impact

This internship creates opportunities for community engagement during the wish granting process.

A wish experience is frequently a source of inspiration for children undergoing difficult medical treatments and a positive force that helps them overcome their obstacles.

Every fulfilled wish represents a unique collaboration between wish families, medical professionals, volunteers and donors. Wish granting truly is a magical, yet comprehensive and dynamic process which allows for community engagement and participation.
