ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP

Duties

ASU manages two preK-9th grade charter schools: ASU  Preparatory Academy Phoenix and ASU Preparatory Academy Polytechnic.  ASU Preparatory Academy provides personalized, university embedded academic programs that empower students to complete college, excel in a global society and contribute to their communities.

ASU Preparatory Academies are seeking highly motivated, articulate students to assist in marketing for the schools and to serve as public relations contacts, to make presentations at local feeder schools and service groups and conduct school tours and information sessions. Interns will target economically disadvantaged communities in their marketing & PR efforts.

Population served

Over 50% of the students at ASU Preparatory Academies receive free/and or reduced lunch. Many have never had a family member attend or graduate from college. These services are needed to encourage students and families to succeed in school and to attend college and to help make the college experience seem accessible.

Community need/impact

Believing that higher education is a key to a successful future, a way out of poverty and a powerful agent for social justice,  ASU Preparatory Academies prepares students to attend, succeed and complete college. There is a need to recruit students for these transformative schools, share the successes of the schools with the greater community and to help orient new students and families to the schools.

Interns will assist students and families to access a quality public school K-12 education which will prepare them to succeed in college and beyond, to reach their full potential and to contribute to their societies and families.
