CPLC Parenting Arizona

ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP

Duties

The student intern will provide community based parent education classes to at risk parents and caregivers using Nurturing Parenting curricula and tools.

Population served

Parenting Arizona provides community based parent education services throughout Maricopa County in cities such as Mesa, Queen Creek, Gilbert, Glendale, and Phoenix.

The student intern will work with his/her parent education mentor/supervisor as to where they will serve. This is very flexible.

Community need/impact

Parent education services are limited in Maricopa County. Parenting Arizona provides free parent education services that include but aren't limited to: school readiness, promoting literacy, child development, and child health & community resources. These services provided through evidence based curriculums such as Nurturing Parent, Triple P and Parents as Teacher help parents have better interactions with their children.

The student intern will provide parental support and education to families of low socioeconomic backgrounds, along with improving the lives of children who belong to at-risk families.

In providing parent education services to at-risk families, the student intern will not only learn invaluable evidence based parent education techniques, but will truly make a difference in the lives of children through their parents by helping them foster positive relationships.
