ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP

Duties

Tutors will assist our at-risk female residents with ONLINE studies between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM Monday through Friday.   Tutors will work under the direction of the instructor assigned to the classroom.  Tutors will work with one student at a time to help them comprehend the subject matter.

Population served

Our population includes at-risk teen girls ages 11 through 18  who are mandated to Florence Crittenton by the Juvenile Justice System, CPS, the Native American Community, and behavioral health organizations.    Girls are behind in their academics due to inconsistent and sporadic school attendance.

Community need/impact

At-risk teens involved in the foster care system are often unable to work at the same academic level as their peers.    Tutors will help students understand the subject matter and specific concepts, allowing them to catch up to other students their age.

Students receiving assistance beyond the regular classroom routine will advance in their adademics, feel more confident and realize their own potential.   They will continue on with their education and become productive and contributing members of society.
