ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP
Duties
ICAN is looking for dedicated volunteers to help with programs, lunch, field trips, and pool days. Are you interested in helping a five year old with homework, refereeing a basketball game, or assisting with a fundraising event? It's an opportunity to impact a youth's life and maybe even learn something new yourself! ICAN serves ages 5-18 in after-school programs.
Population served
At risk youth; 79% of our families earn less than $25,000/yr for a family of four; 40% of the adults in the community do not have their high school diploma or GED; 25% of the families are single-parent households; there are 9 rival gangs in our geographic area.
Community need/impact
ICAN serves at-risk youth in an area of Chandler that carries a high percentage of youth involved in gangs, substance and alcohol abuse, and dropping out of school. Help by becoming a positive role-model in our research-based prevention programs.
Become a positive role-model for ICAN kids by helping in our after-school programs geared to helping youth overcome obstacles.
