ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP

Duties

Working with department director and staff in the development and management of a organizational brand, establishing and maintaining broader public awareness, research and participation in promotional/networking opportunities, as well as community outreach. You'll also be involved in all facets of media outreach, grant writing and funding projects.

Population served

Eastern Maricopa, Gila, Pinal, southern Navajo and Apache counties are the communities we serve. These populations are experiencing the same negative impact of today's economy we all are, however the levels of people in poverty in these areas are the highest in our state because of the percentage of unemployed, lack of job opportunities and minimal community resouces.

Community need/impact

United Food Bank's primary purpose is to distribute food directly to agencies and programs in our communities, who directly serve individuals and families at the highest risk levels and with the greatest need. This year our food bank will distribute over 19 million pounds of food to the communities we serve; however not even this much food will meet the demand of those in need in Arizona.

Each program we offer, every project we take on is a step towards relieving hunger for those at risk. The contributions made on the part of an intern in support of our mission, equates to a monetary savings for our non-profit, in staff resources. These dollars translate into pounds of food and pounds of food translate into meals served daily, weekly, monthly, yearly. And to us at United Food Bank that's everything.
