Student Enrichment Specialist
LOCATION
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Fingerprint/background clearance is required.Standard background checks and fingerprint card is required and completed at no cost to the intern. Background check must be completed and approved before starting at school site (3-5 days). Fingerprint card takes about three weeks total but intern can get started at school site with clear background check while waiting for Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Training will be provided during internship period and will not delay start date.

ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP
Duties
The Student Enrichment Specialist will work with the onsite Community Resource Coordinator to develop and implement dynamic enrichment programs for students on a middle school campus (6-8th grade). Program opportunities include high school/college preparation, service learning clubs, mentoring programs, and girl/boys lunch groups! Selected interns will have the opportunity to share their passion for learning with the students and share their talents in a creative way.
This position will give interns experiences that include:
-Experience in a school environment and develop relationships with teachers, staff, administrators, and community.
-Engage students in a positive way and be a positive adult mentor.
-Take a leadership role in creating/running programs for middle school students and seeing a program from start to finish.
-Provide opportunities for community outreach and involvement.
Population served
The Arizona Cardinals Preparatory Academy is a Title 1 school located in north/central Phoenix (19th Ave. and Dunlap). Students are very diverse and attend from several different areas in the Washington Elementary School District. Students are selected as being borderline students but having high potential. By providing additional resources and a smaller classroom environment the goal is that they can become outstanding college bound students.
Community need/impact
Selected interns will bring their passion and skill to the school site to eliminate barriers to school success. Interns will work with the Community Resource Coordinator to increase attendance, grades, and behavior of the students. These positive changes will increase student achievement and assist these student to graduate high school and also be prepared for college. The selected intern will be part of a team that works to strengthen the commitment between the students, educational goals, and their community.
The Student Enrichment Specialist will have the opportunity to work with students daily, working with them on thier academic and personal goals. They will work with struggling students to achieve their goals and celebrate positive achievements. In addition interns will be able to share their individual passions with the studetns and be positive adult mentors that is are a strong example as to why education is important.
