ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP
Duties
Videographer for the DIGNITY (prostitution recovery) program at Catholic Charities. Attend DIGNITY events and film important moments. Capture footage of both speeches and personal interactions. Edit video to create compelling promotional videos and organization memories. Assist in putting videos on organization website.
Population served
This internship will not only serve the greater community by educating them about prostitution, but also the victims of prostitution will be served by virtue of the increased awareness.
Community need/impact
Prostitution is not a victimless crime. Societal views of prostitution are negatively influenced by misrepresentations in the media and by the lack of information to the general public concerning the realities of living in prostitution. This internship is directly related to educating the community at large.
The DIGNITY program has a 76% success rate. Most of the women who go through the program live the rest of their lives free of prostitution, alcohol, and drugs. Because we reach out to thousands of women, lives have been changed, lives have been saved, and the community has benefited from these efforts. Videos will allow the sharing of information and stories with groups to achieve the common goal of getting the greatest number of prostituted women redirected.
