ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP
Duties
Client Relations Assistants are the first point of contact for welcoming all clients, guests, and volunteers to the center. Client Relations is intensely focused on providing a high level of customer service with a level of empathy and understanding of the diverse situations which bring clients into the center. You will have a high level of interaction with clients and community members, responding to in-person and telephone inquiries for information. You will refer women to the most appropriate Fresh Start staff member or department, depending on their expressed needs.
Population served
Our services are available to any adult women age 18 and older. Many of our clients fall into the following groups: Women in Transition –women who are facing significant changes in their lives or who have just become the sole support of themselves and their families; Underemployed Women – women who are employed but whose earnings cannot sustain her or her family’s needs; and Domestic Violence Victims Not In Crisis – women whose lives have been affected by abuse and who are striving for independence. All of our services are free or low-cost in order to accomodate the nearly 90% of our clientele with a household income less than the Maricopa County median ($56,000).
Community need/impact
Our center assists many women that are currently dealing with transition; this includes issues such as divorce, domestic violence, job loss and unemployment, career changes, motherhood, grief and bereavment, and more. No matter the transition, Fresh Start has the resources to help women effectively deal with what life hands them. As a Client Relations Assistant, interns will have the opportunity to guide and assist clients to the appropriate resource for their situation, as well as providing a level of customer service that will enable our clients to find a sense of peace and enrichment as they walk through the center. You will have the opportunity to learn more about the unique circumstances that affect women in the central Phoenix community and to make a difference in the experiences of those that come to our center.
