Health & Wellness Assistant
LOCATION
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Fingerprint/background clearance is required.Background check will be covered by Valley of the Sun YMCA and takes about 24 hrs. Intern will not need fingerprint clearance. The intern will be given 30 days to complete CPR/ AED and first aid training which will be provided by the YMCA. Intern may begin working as soon as background is completed.

REQUIRED/DESIRED SKILLS
- 18 years of age or older
- Current state approved first-aid certification (or acquire within first 30 days)
- Current CPR certification (or acquire within first 30 days)
- Demonstrated ability to teach progressive exercise programs
- Ability to instruct and observe participants using proper exercise techniques
- Personal Training Instructor certification or equivalent
- Ability to motivate others in the areas of self-awareness and self-confidence.
- Possesses mature judgment and sound decision-making.
- Ability to communicate effectively with members, peers, and supervisor
- Ability to effectively communicate information on YMCA Health/Fitness Programs

Duties
Provides instruction and leadership and maintains safe environment while conducting and monitoring effective and enjoyable exercise programs for individuals.
Population served
The population that this internship will serve is a lower economic area perdominately Hispanic. Large community of health seekers.
Community need/impact
Provides instruction and leadership and maintains safe environment while conducting and monitoring effective and enjoyable exercise programs for individuals.
The student intern will have a chance to work directly with members of the community as well as assist in creating programs that are geared towards the surrounding population. Working directly with the community will give the intern a chance to see how they are changing participants lives.
