If you are comfortable with computers and enjoy teaching people new skills, then this is the position for you!  As a Tech Coach, you will instruct and guide women in computer basics (i.e. how to use a mouse, creating an email account) and using computer software programs such  as Word, Excel and PowerPoint at beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels. Opportunities to host a small class of 4 - 9 clients or serve on a one-on-one coaching basis.

Population served

Adult women aged 18 and older: Women in Transition - women who are facing significant changes in their lives or who have just become the sole support of themselves and their families.  Underemployed Women - women who are employed but whose earnings cannot sustain her or her family's needs.  Domestic Violence Victims Not In Crisis - women whose lives have been affected by abuse and who are striving for independence.  Although these are our target audiences, no woman is turned away.

Community need/impact

Our center assists many women that are currently dealing with transition, whether it be going through a divorce, leaving an abusive relationship, losing a job, changing careers, having a child or even dealing with a death in the family. No matter the transition, Fresh Start has the resources to help women effectively deal with what life hands them.  And as a Computer Lab Specialist, interns will have the opportunity to guide and assist clients with written and digital materials based on self-help and self-improvement as well as providing a level of customer service that will enable our clients to find a sense of peace and enrichment as they walk through the center.

Social justice, women's issues intervention and increasing access to technology.
