Mesa Public Schools - AVID Program

Mission: 

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a program that supports students in the middle who are typically under-represented in post-secondary education settings. These students have ability to succeed in college but need support to establish the skills to get there. The program also supports schoolwide use of writing, reading, inquiry, and collaboration techniques that increase student achievement.

Duties Semester
AVID Tutor

Interns will facilitate a structured tutorial session for 5-7 students twice a week or more. This tutorial is facilitated with certified teacher supervision through questioning with the purpose of leading students to answers through understanding process. Training will be provided. Sessions occur either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday with special duties on Fridays. This is great opportunity to see the world of education through a hands-on approach.
