ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP

Duties

The Home Visitation Parent Education Intern will help our Home Visitation Team by:

  • Working with the Volunteer Educator to come up with an impactful service for current participants
  • Ensuring project is in line with Parenting Arizona core service needs
  • Being able to work with various demographic groups throughout Maricopa County
  • Being open to travelling to participants homes

Population served

The Home Visitation program services areas in Northwest Maricopa: Glendale, Peoria, Wickenburg and Sun City West and in Southeast Maricopa: Mesa, Gilbert and Queen Creek. The 450 Families in these areas with a child 0-3 can become part of the program and recieve various services.

The Home Visitation Parent Education Intern will put together a project related to the mentioned services for participants in the mentioned areas around Maricopa County.

Community need/impact

The Home Visitation Program of CPLC Parenting Arizona is a free voluntary in-home visitation program that promotes healthy relationships for all families with children 0-3. Through its Parents as Teachers curriculum, the program helps provide the following services throughout Maricopa County to over 450 families:
  • School Readiness
  • Child Development education
  • Hearing & Vision Screenings
  • Community services referrals
  • Parent Socials known as "Group Connections"
  • Positive play & interaction w children
  • Child Health 

The Home Visitation Parent Education Intern's community impact will be great. Through the designated project, the intern will help deliver a service that our limited staff might not be able to provide through our current lack of resources, but that is greatly needed in the community.
