AIMS Student Support Specialist
LOCATION
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Fingerprint/background clearance is required.Student intern will need to possess a valid IVP Fingerprint Card as well as pass a background check submitted and paid for by our organization.
- Cost of fingerprint card is $69 which may be reimbursed by our organization if student intern does not already possess one.
- Card issuance can take as long as 12 weeks.
- While waiting student intern can begin service immediately after passing background check.

Service learning intern will be providing service between Monday through Friday and the hours of 8-5. Student may choose the days and hours served with a minimum of 4 direct hours and 1 indirect hour per week.
REQUIRED/DESIRED SKILLS
Student interns will possess:
- Proficiency in math skills
- Ability to manage group of studentst in a classroom setting
- Ability to plan and deliver an effective instructional lesson
- Ability to assess student progress and make adjustments to teaching based on results
- Ability to work with others on a team
- Self motivation
- Navigation of internet and email
- Basic Microsoft Office skills

ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP
Duties
Internship duties:
- Iterns will provide guidance in one of four AIMS content areas:
- Math
- Science
- Reading
- Writing
- Create a schedule for tutoring sessions
- Contact students to get attendance at sessions
- Plan and implement instructional activities
- Track student attendance and progress
- Monitor student progress in online curriculum
- Monitor and positively affect student behavior
- Provide student tutoring in specified content area
- DIfferentiate instruction to meet needs of all students being served
- Analyze test scores and write a summary report on findings
Population served
Blueprint Education student population consists of students seeking an alternative to "mainstream" education for a variety of reasons including but not limited to; mental illness, poverty, learning disabilities, etc.
Community need/impact
The community that Blueprint Education serves is in need of students showing increased acheivement on AIMS scores which will result in more members that are ready for the skilled workforce and less of an impact on state subsidized living.
The service learning intern will help create a positive community impact by providing students with tutoring and mentoring. By helping them create higher achievement and increased graduation rates, this help will translate into more young adults being prepared for the skilled workforce thus reducing poverty and increasing community sustainability.
