ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP
Duties
Tutor students in Grade 1 - mostly small group and one-on-one instruction in Math and Reading; assist with grading homework and tests.
Population served
Luke Elementary is a Title 1 K-8 school; over 40% of students are eligible for Free or Reduced Lunch. many come from families with low-incomes.
Community need/impact
Students are unable to meet or exceed Arizona state testing standards in Reading and/or Math; tutors will be able to provide additional time wtih students to help get them up to speed.
Students can make a difference in kids' lives through being able to offer more individualized attention to students in small groups and one-on-one, which helps them comprehend their lessons more fully.
