ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP
Duties
If you are interested in this position, please contact Dr. Kupperman directly at the email above. Please do not contact Bev Tittle-Baker or other CARE staff about this position, as they will not be supervising it and cannot schedule interviews.
Interns will observe and assist in the day-to-day operations of a community medicine clinic. Duties may include, but are not limited to, observation and assistance with: 1) front office work, e.g. patient phone calls, scheduling, check-in and check-out; 2) patient triage, e.g. vital signs, chief concern; 3) office visits; 4) special projects, e.g. creation and translation of patient education materials, assistance with Electronic Medical Records. All direct patient interaction will be with consent of the patient.
Population served
Low income population of uninsured and underinsured.
Community need/impact
Low-cost quality primary medical care.
There is a dearth of low-cost health care available in this population, and assistance in providing that care is needed. Interns will become aware of services currently available in this community, and as such become better prepared to identify gaps in services that can be addressed in the future.
