REQUIRED/DESIRED SKILLS
Student must have experience working with K-12 students. Must have reliable transportation. Must be available on Sunday, October 14, 2012 for the organizations Annual Walk-A-Thon (Taking Steps Towards College Success). Desired bilingual skills.

ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP
Duties
The Be A Leader Intern assists during Saturday workshops for 7th-12th grade students, helps with facilitating workshops, mentoring students, set-up/clean up of college-going workshops, coordinating volunteer/mentors, create/prepare presentations for college-going workshops, and participate in parent workshops.
Population served
Our students are in grades 7th-12th. The majority of our students are first-generation and low-income. This population has a high need because they lack adequate resources to help them apply an complete a higher education.
Community need/impact
The Be A Leader Foundation focuses its efforts in inceasing the number of college-going students by empowering them to become college bound, focused and prepared through leadership training and mentoring. The Be a Leader Intern will take part in creating pathways for higher eduation for our 7th-12th grade students.
The Be a Leader Intern will take part in building relationsips and positively influencing our young students to obtain a higher education regardless of their race, gender and socio-economic status. By addressing the ned for more students to go to college the Be A Leader Intern will create a college-going culture among our students and their families.
