ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP

Duties

The intern will assist in the planning, preparation, execution, and close-out of the annual golf outing.  Duties will include soliciting participants and raffle items, assembling materials, maintaining reports, and working at the event, which is scheduled for October 19th.  Following the event, reports will be prepared, and thank you's completed.  We will then begin work on the Gala, which is scheduled for April 2013.  We will be working on many of the same details we covered for the golf event, but on a much larger scale.

Population served

The Tumbleweed youth, ages 12 to 25, are experiencing homelessness, or temporaray shelter issues.  The are in need of food, clothing, hygiene supplies, case management, showers, laundry, medical services, and relief from life on the street.  They are also in need of educational opportunities to equip them for a productive life.

Community need/impact

Tumbleweed Center for Youth Development serves homeless and vulnerable youth between the ages of 12 and 25.  Government funding provides basic services for the work.  Fundraisers are necessary to allow a higher level of service.

The intern will have the opportunity to improve the participation in the golf event, allowing Tumbleweed to increase the proceeds and serve more youth.  The intern will also have the opportunity to enhance Tumbleweed's relations with the participants, to assure they return next year.
