Andre House of Arizona

Mission:

Mission Statement: André House was created by the Congregation of Holy Cross to develop and provide services to the homeless and poor in the State of Arizona, to offer volunteer opportunities and to increase community awareness and education regarding issues of homelessness and poverty.

André House provides free food, shelter, clothes, showers, laundry, blankets, toiletries and other services for people who are poor or homeless in downtown Phoenix. Founded in 1984 by two Holy Cross priests, André House shares its ministry with thousands of volunteers each year. We dedicate ourselves to serving Jesus through others, as the Gospel challenges us: "I was hungry, and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger, and you welcomed me. I was naked, and you clothed me. I was ill, and you comforted me. I was in prison, and you visited me." (Mt 25:35-36)

Interns can help with any or all of the following services we offer:

- Distribute clothing. Help in our clothing closet in which guests can receive a complete change of clothes every two weeks.

- Monitoring showers. We have 3 individual shower stalls which our guests can use to bathe. Guests can be in the private shower room for 10 minutes. We need someone to monitor the showers: giving people towels & soap as they go in the shower, let them know when their time is up, call...
