ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP
Duties
If you are comfortable with computers and enjoy teaching people new skills, then this is the position for you! Tech Coaches will guide clients one-on-one with formatting Word documents, running and using Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint, navigating through the Internet, creating an email account, online job searches, and more.
Population served
A large majority of the women that visit our centers are going through a transition of some sort, whether it be career change, loss of employment, divorce, domestic violence or just a need to connect with other women for empowerment in order to reach or regain self-sufficiency.
Community need/impact
The women in our community are in need of guidance to increase their computer skills in order to be considered competitive in the job market, succesfully communicate and even just to function on a daily basis in the modern techonological world we live in.
The interns will be providing a service these women would not otherwise be able to obtain, as well as knowledge and guidance that they would normally have to pay for in taking a class that might not be at their pace, which would lead to discouragement and not gaining the skills they need in order to succeed and reach their goals of employment or otherwise.
