Nomination Criteria
In an effort to recognize the responsibility of scholars to improve the communication of research by making their work freely available to readers on a global scale, AERA’s Communication of Research SIG has established an annual award for education research articles that are published in open access journals.
Best Education Research Article in an Open Access Journal, 2004
To be considered for the "Best Education Research Article in an Open Access Journal, 2004" award, articles must have been published between January 1, 2004, and December 31, 2004, in a peer-reviewed, scholarly open-access journal in the field of education that makes its contents available without cost across the Internet. A listing of many such journals is available online at http://aera-cr.ed.asu.edu/ejournals. For the purposes of this award, “Open Access Journal” refers to a journal that offers readers free online access to its full contents, within at least 12 months of publication if not immediately.
Nominations must include the following:
- name of author(s), title of article, and title of electronic journal;
- a description of the article's general quality and impact on the academic or professional community;
- a description (if applicable) of the way(s) in which the author(s) or journal publisher(s) have made use of the electronic medium to enhance the article's content, supporting materials, or method of dissemination; article's location (URL); and,
- contact information for the nominator(s)
Complete nominations should be e-mailed to Sherman Dorn at dorn@mail.usf.edu and must be received by March 15, 2005. Nominees will be informed that their work is being considered for the award.
