Nomination Criteria

To be considered for the "Best Article in an Open Access Journal, 2003" award, articles must have been published between January 1, 2003, and December 31, 2003, in a peer-reviewed, scholarly journal in the field of education that makes its contents available without cost across the Internet. A listing of many such journals is available online at http://aera-cr.ed.asu.edu/ejournals/.

Nominations must include the following:

  • name of author(s), title of article, and title of electronic journal;
  • a description of the article's general quality and impact on the academic or professional community;
  • a description (if applicable) of the way(s) in which the author(s) or journal publisher(s) have made use of the electronic medium to enhance the article's content, supporting materials, or method of dissemination;
  • article's location (URL); and,
  • contact information for the nominator(s)

Complete nominations should be e-mailed to David C. Berliner (berliner@asu.edu) and must be received by March 1, 2004. Nominees will be informed that their work is being considered for the award. All nominations will be reviewed by a Communication of Research SIG awards panel. The award recipient will be recognized at the Communication of Research SIG business meeting in April 2004 in San Diego.
